Call for Papers: "Changes in the Hadley Circulation with Global Warming: Impacts on Climates of Arid/Semi-Arid Zones" at AGU (USA)
Please consider submitting an abstract to a special session that we are organizing at the AGU Fall Meeting. The session is numbered GC005, and is titled "Changes in the Hadley Circulation with Global Warming: Impacts on Climates of Arid/Semi-Arid Zones".
Please consider submitting an abstract to a special session that we are
organizing at the AGU Fall Meeting. The session is numbered GC005, and
is titled "Changes in the Hadley Circulation with Global Warming:
Impacts on Climates of Arid/Semi-Arid Zones". It deals with the
following topic:
Increasing drought in subtropical regions, including a 3% increase in
land area experiencing arid climates in the past few decades, suggests
that global warming may be modifying the Hadley Circulation (HC).
Changes in the intensity of major heat sources in the tropics may change
teleconnection patterns, including displacements of the mid-latitude
storm tracks. This session seeks presentations concerning observed and
projected aridification of subtropical margins and changes in the zonal
averaged and regional HC, changes in mechanisms of HC
expansion/strengthening of the arid/semiarid subtropics, and HC-mediated
sensitivities of precipitation to greenhouse gas forcing at multiple
time scales.
The deadline for abstract submission is August 8.
