Dear colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to the following session, " Land Surface Observation, Data Assimilation and Their Applications", at the upcoming 2010 Western Pacific Geophysical Meeting (WPGM) of the AGU, 22-25 June 2010 in Taipei, Taiwan. We welcome abstract submissions on any relevant research topics.

The website for the description of the session is http://www.agu.org/meetings/wp10/program/scientific_session_search.php?show=detail&sessid=35/

The deadline for Abstract submission is Feb. 25, 2010.

Session: H03. Land Surface Observation, Data Assimilation and Their Applications

Abstract: Land surface states and processes have strong impacts on numerical weather, seasonal climate and hydrological predictions and societal economic activities, such as drought and flood mitigation planning. Many in situ networks have been established and remote sensing satellites have been or will be launched to observe the land surface states and processes. Research and application projects have been either carried out or planned to acquire and to assimilate these land data products for the various applications. This session will focus on the lessons learned from these projects.
