Summer Short Course on EC Flux Measurement Fundamentals
the course is still open for a few additional participants
July 30 - August 3, 2012
KIT Campus Alpine, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany
This technical short course introduces the use of micrometeorological
methods to obtain and analyze fluxes of momentum, heat, and atmospheric
trace gases by eddy-covariance and related techniques. The course is
hosted by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and its Institute
of Meteorology and Climate Research - Atmospheric Environmental Research
(IMK-IFU). Successful completion of the course carries 2 credit points
(ECTS) through the Technical University of Munich (TUM).
Topics covered include theory of turbulent exchange measurements, flux
measurement techniques, installation and operation of an EC and energy
balance measurement site, and QA/QC. The course will be team taught by
Hans Peter(HaPe)Schmid(KIT/IMK-IFU andTUM), Rainer Steinbrecher, and
Matthias Mauder(bothof KIT/IMK-IFU).
A detailed course program is available
on: <http://imk-ifu.fzk.de/tereno/EC-Kurs/Syllabus_2012.htm>
The course is directed at graduate students, post-docs and professionals
who are interested in applying the eddy-covariance flux measurement
technique. No course fee is charged for participants. For registration
and questions regarding course participation and accommodation, please
