XVI Brazilian Congress of Meteorology

Meteorology has been evolving along the need to develop strategies of sustainability and conservation on the several Brazilian biomes. The Brazilian Society of Meteorology (SBMET), since its foundation in 1958 has been following such evolution and through the accomplishing of the past 15 Brazilian Congresses of Meteorology it has contribute to track the course of the studies of weather and clime.

The XVI Brazilian Congresses of Meteorology to be accomplished in 2010, in the capital city of Pará State, Belém, shall give opportunity to the participants of experiencing all charm and enchanting of Amazonian culture and landscape. The chosen matter to the sixteenth issue of the Brazilian Congresses of Meteorology shall be “Amazon and Global Climate”. This issue reflects the current worries of the scientific community related to the future of the weather in the planet. This congress Organizer Commission intents to promote a wide debate on the challenges to conciliate economical and social development, with weather conservation, on the several aspects that involve the meteorological science.

The accomplishing of this event in Belém, Pará, is base on the strengths union of several socioeconomic sectors, education and research in Brazil and, specially, of Pará State, in order this event could contribute decisively on the decisions taken processes that involve the climate equilibrium issue ant the Amazon role on the global weather, once the discussions on the weather changes shall be centralized on the XVI C Brazilian Congresses of Meteorology an the I Pan-Amazonian Symposium of Meteorology, which shall be accomplished in Belém, Pará State, from 13 to 17 of September, 2010.
