Post-doc position, ecosystem modelling:
This is a position becoming available in the EU-FP7 project “Operational
Potential of Ecosystem Research Applications, OPERAS”.
Within OPERAS, the main tasks of the post-doctoral researcher will be to
quantify ecosystem responses to climate change and human land use/land
cover change. The researcher will be working with existing, and will
develop new methods that can contribute to an ecosystem-services
analysis and application framework. The researcher will use the
process-based dynamic vegetation model LPJ-GUESS, and contribute to
refining the model’s most recent developments regarding representation
of coupled carbon and nitrogen cycles, and human land management. The
post-doctoral researcher will also play an active role in contributing
to OPERAS project meetings, the annual project reporting, and provide
assistance in the general steering of some of the cross-project tasks.
The researcher will join the research group on plant-atmosphere
interactions at the Institute for Atmospheric Environmental Research,
Garmisch Partenkirchen, Germany. The project is done in close
collaboration with a number of institutions in Europe. The appointee
must be willing to visit partner institutions, and have very good spoken
and written skills in communicating in the English language.
We offer a position in a young and active team that is placed within a
multi-disciplinary, collaborative research environment with excellent
research infrastructure and support. We are well connected to national
and international research programmes.
Initial deadline for application is mid-September, but the position will
remain open until a suitable candidate has been found. Further details
