Position Description: We seek an individual with a recent Ph.D. received since 2007 and who has experience in working in an interdisciplinary team environment dealing with social-ecological systems. Candidates whose research spans the physical sciences, natural resources, social sciences and application to decision making of natural or/and cultural resource management issues related to aspects of climate change are preferred. The NC CSC is one of eight Department of Interior (DOI) regional climate science center. Each center is a collaborative effort between the federal government and consortium of select universities, hosted and lead within the Natural Resource and Ecology Lab at Colorado State University. The mission of the NC CSC is to contribute to the National effort by providing the best available climate science and synthesis to inform energy, land, and cultural resource management within the North Central Domain. The primary research objective for this position is to make climate science more relevant to resource managers by integrating climate data into results that can meaningful influence management actions through scenario planning. Candidates whose research spans the physical sciences, natural resources, social sciences with particular application to rigorous science for natural or/and cultural resource management issues related to aspects of climate change are preferred. Research areas of interest include but are not limited to (1) integration of climate data (historic, contemporary, and projections) with ecological/biological response models and (2) quantifiable and rigorous scenario development or simulation modeling to assist decision making under multiple sources of uncertainty and respecting the variable and non-stationary nature of past and projected climate. Special consideration will be given to candidates who will collaborate with faculty from NC-CSC Partner institutions (see list below). The position will be filled based on qualifications with a salary in the range of $48,000 to $60,000 annually with benefits for one year with the possibility for renewal of a second year.
