The Joint Research Centre of the EC announces the publication of a
book on "The challenges of index-based insurance for food security
in developing countries" edited by René Gommes and François
Kayitakire. In 35 chapters the volume offers a comprehensive
coverage of technical aspects linked with the design of insurance
crop indices from the point of view of economics, agrometeorology
and agroclimatology, remote sensing, risk assessments, crop
