Announcement: Release of APHRODITE V1003 daily grid precipitation product

We are pleased to inform you that APHRODITE's Water Resources project has just released our new version of daily grid precipitation product version V1003 for Monsoon Asia (MA) and Middle East (ME). The products for Russia (RU) are still on in-house checking, and will be available in a couple of week.

APHRO_V1003 contains more rain gauge observation than that of V0902 (Yatagai et al., 2009), and is improved in quality control and interpolation algorithm. Fully update, that means, replace V0902 with V1003 is strongly recommended.

We extended the period for 1951-2007, and enlarge the domain of APHRO_MA_V1003 to cover Indonesia. The grid intervals are 0.25 and 0.5 degree. Information of rain gauge density for each day of the analysis is also incorporated,
as we did in V0902.

The APHRODITE project also developed a very fine scale (0.05degree) daily precipitation data over Japan (APHRO_JP_V1005). It covers for 100 years (1910-2009), and it is also available at the same web-site!
