We thus developed a tool to estimate climate for any location on land. The LocClim CD-ROM http://www.fao.org/sd/2002/EN1203a_en.htm) was published at the end of 2002. It can now be downloaded as "LOCCLIM version 1.0.zip" from ftp://ext-ftp.fao.org/SD/Upload/Agromet.

People particularly interested in climatology can subscribe to CLIMLIST, a moderated electronic mail distribution list for climatologists and those working in closely-related fields. It is used to disseminate notices regarding conferences and workshops, data availability, calls for papers, positions available etc. as well as requests for information. In addition, an updated Directory of e-mail addresses for the subscribers of the list is distributed every month.

LocClim was developed to provide an estimate of climatic conditions at locations for which no observations are available. To achieve this, the programme uses the 28800 stations of FAOCLIM 2.0, the global agroclimatic database maintained by the Agrometeorology Group of FAO.
