The first version of a Digital Catalogue of Plant Species Suggested for Climate Change Adaptation at the local level has just been published by the Applied Meteorology Group, of the Provincial Meteorological Center of Villa Clara, Cuba (http://www.cmp.vcl.cu/area/000002).

This catalogue has the scientific as well as the common names of the species, with a brief description of their ecological requirements, classification type of plants (C3 or C4) and images that illustrate their characteristics. The material includes a video presentation on the impacts of climate change on agriculture locally. It notes how the changing global climate will affect food production and emphasizes that it is important to take steps to adapt and plan before the changes will actually take place.

Thanks to its pictures and simple language, this information-rich catalogue is suitable for use in classrooms, conferences and individual observations by all those people that feel responsible about the future of our planet.
