Draft 3rd Ed. GAMP (2007)
Dear INSAM members,
after a few introductional sections that were setting the tone for
the GAMP as a whole, over the past a bit more than two years you
saw regularly appearing under our “Agromet Market
Place” the Chapters and sections of the “Draft 3rd Edition of the GAMP
(2007)”, the new WMO/CAgM Guide to Agricultural
Meteorological Practices (WMO No. 134).
Without diminishing the great contributions of my CAgM Expert Teams, it should be recognized that without the reactions to the regular advertisements for INSAM members and Agromet-L listers, the Guide would never have got its present shape. Several years were lost because the old CAgM network appeared insufficient to raise the necessary collaboration and contributions, again without diminishing the value of what we received through it. Only with the new additional networks involved we got what and where we wanted. With 180 people involved it became a unique participative book.
It is to be expected that it will take at least a year before a WMO house style edited version will become available and therefore we want to publish the draft and keep it available also on the INSAM website from now onwards. Of course this is done “by courtesy of WMO/CAgM”.
Compared to what you saw before, Chapters 2, 3 and 4 were slightly amended and the present versions are now identical to what is available at the CAgM website, thanks to Bob Stefanski and Aida de La Rosa of the CAgM secretariat. The final GAMP (2008) will have a different Chapter numbering, which is given at the end of the document with the list of contributors (and their e-mail addresses) that acknowledges who contributed what in what quality.
I trust that you will continue to enjoy the new WMO/CAgM GAMP draft given here.
